Pabst Blue Ribbon's New 'Hard Coffee' Is The Kind Of Boozy Brew We've Been Missing

If you've ever found yourself caught between a pick-me-up cup of cold brew or getting that pleasant buzz from your favorite beer, Pabst Brewing Company may have come up with the perfect beverage to satisfy your little indecisive heart.

The beer company knows that sometimes caffeine or alcohol on their own just isn't enough. That's why they've introduced a brand new drink that takes the guesswork out of deciding which beverage to opt for. Now, the decision has been made for you: both. You're getting both in a can.

You probably know Pabst best for their iconic (and patriotic) red, white, and blue Blue Ribbon cans.

This new beverage from the brewing company isn't attempting to reinvent that Blue Ribbon taste you know and love. Instead, it's going to give your taste buds something brand new to fall head-over-heels for.

Pabst Blue Ribbon's new "Hard Coffee" drink gives your favorite canned beer a caffeinated upgrade.

According to Best Products, each can is made of Arabica and robust coffee beans, American milk, and just a dash of vanilla. What does that give you? Basically a deliciously boozy frappuccino with a 5% ABV.

But don't be fooled into thinking this is just another kind of coffee-flavored beer.

These drinks are actually spiked coffee beverages, so your java is getting the boozy treatment instead of the other way around.

A few tasters who reviewed the drink on Untappd likened the drink to the creamy taste of our favorite childhood drink, Yoo-hoo.

“Reese’s cups and vanilla wafers,” one reviewer wrote. “Not beer, but not really trying to be. Alcoholic Yoo-hoo.”

PBR's Brand Manager, John Newhouse, said the company really enjoys trying new things.

“Pabst Blue Ribbon has always been a brand that pushes boundaries and celebrates those who experiment and try new things," he told Beer Street Journal. "Hard Coffee is an opportunity for us to pioneer a delicious and fun new drink, and give America something unique."

He added, "We hope everyone loves it as much as we do."

But you may want to slow down before you go running out to your local beer store to pick up a case (or two).

This drink is currently only available in five states: Pennsylvania, Maine, New Jersey, Florida, and Georgia. For specific retailers carrying the product in each state, you can check the store locator on the company's website.
