Archbishop Tells Trump To ‘Stop Hatred And Fake Prayer' After El Paso Shooting

Trump is facing a fair amount of criticism after his press conference remarks regarding the two mass shootings that took place this weekend.

With his speech citing video games and social media as the primary causes of gun violence, without once mentioning proper gun control, many are voicing that Trump's response was less than Presidential.

San Antonio Archbishop Gustavo García-Siller is one of two top Catholic leaders in Texas.

He is also a frequent Twitter user, and hasn't shied away from using his platform to speak on tough political topics in the past.

After the mass shooting in El Paso, the archbishop tweeted out a message citing racism as the probable motive.

"Violence is escalating everywhere," he wrote, "The rhetoric and selfishness of many in power has led to destruction and pain. We rise with love, forgiveness, and tenderness as we care the wounds of those innocent people affected by hatred, racism, and discrimination."

"Enough, Enough, And Enough."

In additional tweets, the archbishop also speaks on the matter of gun control.

However, after Trump's press conference, the archbishop's tweets got a little more specific.

In a series of now deleted tweet, the archbishop calls out Trump by name, calling him out for inciting racist violence and even calling him a "very weak man."

"President stop your hatred. People in the US deserve better."

"Please stop racism," he continued, "Please stop hatred. Please be people of good will. Please stop fake prayer. You have caused too much damage already, you have destroyed people's lives. Stop, stop, stop. Please, please, please."

After deleting the tweets calling out Trump directly, the archbishop had some final words on the matter.

"Deaths are talking," he wrote, "Stop!"

Trump has yet to respond to these criticisms, though it is clear that the majority of the archbishop's following agrees with Gustavo's sentiments.
