These Vintage Cigarette Machines Are Being Used To Dispense Local Art

There are more and more initiatives as of recent to support and buy local goods, and to try and steer clear of traditional retail stores as much as possible. And there is something awesome about buying local — you know that someone or a small team is putting together something really special and meaningful.

Now it's even easier to shop local at your own convenience with vending machines that dispense local art.

This is the Artiphix, and it's a repurposed vintage cigarette machine that now dispenses local art.

There are a few versions of these machines, but this one is specifically based in the Fox Valley area of Wisconsin.

Local artists are able to reach and connect with the community more easily and sell their art.

Each piece is $19.95 — $15 of each sale goes to the artist, and the remaining amount goes back to Artiphix initiatives.

It's so simple and fun to use — how could you walk right by without getting a piece of art?

You simply swipe a payment card, choose your print by pulling its corresponding lever, and voila!

So far they're located in two places — McFleshman's Brewing Co and the Red Lion Paper Valley Hotel. Two more are set to be released by the end of the year.

If you happen to be in the Fox Valley area, make sure you go check out these machines and support local! They're so much better than taking a key chain home from a souvenir shop.
