Man Armed With AR-15 Killed In Shootout With Police Near Kansas City Outlet Mall

Kansas City Police have killed an armed man in a shootout near Legends Outlet Mall.

The suspect, identified by witnesses as 51-year-old Charles Roy Pearson, allegedly told a hotel manager that he had killed his wife, and was headed to the outlet mall with an AR-15 assault rifle.

The witness saw Pearson leave the hotel parking lot in a red Maserati and drive toward the mall.

Though there is no official confirmation proving Pearson's claim that he killed his wife, Sylvia Ann Ussery-Pearson, was reported missing on Tuesday morning and has yet to be located by officials.

Police were called to the Country Inn and Suites from which Pearson left at around 9 AM Tuesday Morning.

"The manager advised that a heavily armed subject came into the hotel," Officer Jonathan Westbook stated, "Who advised that he committed a crime, and our officers came out this way."

"We located the subject and he fired at us and we returned fire, he is deceased."

The Legends Shopping Center was on lock down while Police were in the area, despite Pearson never actually entering the mall. As of today, the lock down has been lifted. The shooter was the lone causality.
