Texas Couple Invite Stranded Delivery Driver To Stay With Them During Winter Storm

The weather conditions in Texas have taken a catastrophic turn as many people have been without electricity, running water, and basic human needs for survival.

For one local delivery driver, a stormy day spent delivering food to customers quickly turned into a life or death situation. Fortunately for her, an unbelievably kind couple opened their doors to protect her from the deadly winter weather, and allowed her to stay with them for five days to wait out the deadly conditions.

It all began on February 13 with a car drifting down an icy driveway.

Unfortunately, essential workers in Texas have needed to travel during the worst weather conditions, which could make for high risk situations.

This was the case for 32-year-old Chelsea Timmons, whose delivery car began sliding down an icy driveway in Austin, Texas, towards a home. As CNN reported, she didn't hit the house, but she did hit a flower bed.

The home owners came to the rescue.

Doug Condon and Nina Richardson, the home owners, came to see if Timmons needed help. While they all worked together to get her car over to the driveway, they quickly discovered that she wasn't going to be going anywhere for awhile.

According Timmons explained in a Facebook post detailing the situation,

"AAA said it would be an hour or 2 for a truck to arrive. [Doug and Nina] agreed to let me wait inside. Hours passed, no tow truck. Repeatedly made calls to AAA with no answers given. Finally around 6pm AAA said my location was 'inaccessible due to current conditions'."

She found both shelter and friendship with this Texas couple.

After trying Uber, Lyft and other ride-share options to get home, it quickly became clear that no drivers could help the stranded Timmons during the storm.

Refusing to allow the driver to go back out into the deadly weather conditions, Condon and Richardson not only let Timmons stay with them, but also gave her the royal treatment.

As Timmons wrote online, "These people let a complete STRANGER stay the night! Not only that but cooked me a STEAK DINNER! definitely not how I imagined my Valentine’s Day!"

Timmons felt truly blessed.

Road conditions showed no sign of improving, and on day five as a houseguest, Timmons decided to share just how grateful she was for the couples generosity.

"How AMAZINGLY BLESSED am I right in this moment?!" she expressed on Facebook, adding that she decided to bake the couple a beautiful coconut cake as a "thank you".

On February 19, conditions finally cleared enough for Timmons to leave her hosts' home, but she told CNN this experience has resulted in a lasting friendship, and the trio plan on staying in touch with each other.
