'Mandalorian' Actor Weighs In On Gina Carano's Firing, Slams Cancel Culture

Bill Burr has jumped to the defense of former co-star, Gina Carone, following her firing from The Mandalorian.

The actor and comedian spoke out on Gina's departure following her controversial post, in addition to slamming cancel culture as a whole.

He also expressed fears that he could be next when it comes to being fired from the franchise. Come see what else he had to say.

Last month, fans were shocked when Disney fired Gina Carano from *The Mandalorian*.

She played Cara Dune on the popular Disney+ Star Wars series. Her firing came after she shared a controversial social media post.

The post implied that being a Republican today is like being Jewish during the Holocaust.

After news broke, the response to her exit from the franchise was mixed.

Since the actress has a history of making controversial comments, those who started the hashtag #FireGinaCarano were pleased.

"After what I read, and ESPECIALLY when watching Trump’s impeachment hearings where they are showing more never before seen videos of terrorists wanting to hang Congressmen, she deserved to get fired. #FireGinaCarano," wrote one Twitter user.

Even LucasFilms released a statement, condemning the actress and martial artist of her actions.

"Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future," they began.

"Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable," they wrote.

But not everyone was pleased with Gina's firing. Her supporters spoke out against Disney's decision on Twitter.

"#FireGinaCarano The character in the show has nothing to do with her in real life. stop the cancel culture [expletive]. Who cares what she does in her personal life she did a kickass job in the show which is what should matter," wrote one user.

Another person who will miss Gina on *The Mandalorian* is her former co-star, Bill Burr.

The actor and comedian plays Migs Mayfield, a rogue bounty hunter, on the Disney+ series.

Bill recently weighed in on her firing during a new episode of his The Bill Bert Podcast, which he co-hosts with Bert Kreischer.

He started by defending Gina in the wake of her controversial comments, calling her an "absolute sweetheart."

"Super nice [expletive] person," he added.

He also stated that her personal comments didn't warrant her being fired from the show. "Unless she did some truly horrible [expletive] or said overtly racist [expletive]... I don't know."

He then expressed his own fear of being canceled.

"I think there is just too many channels. And then you gotta do sensational [expletive]…I don’t know what the [expletive] it is. I mean I’m on that [expletive] show. Now, I gotta watch what the [expletive] I say."

As a comedian, he's used to making jokes on several controversial matters.

"Someone will take this video and they’ll make me say something else and try to get rid of my bald action figure," he continued.

"It’s how it is out there."

By this, he was referring to Carano’s Cara Dune action figure being pulled from store shelves following her firing.

The actor then got deep when it came to his feelings on cancel culture.

"It's [expletive] crazy times," he began.

"People just waiting, laying in the weeds... Now it’s becoming like, ‘Hey you made an ignorant comparison. (flushing sound) There goes your dream, right? I look at that and it’s like, ‘Who the [expletive] stands up to that?’”

While Burr will miss working with Gina, she's not completely canceled from Hollywood.

A day after her firing was announced, the actress shared to Deadline that she already has another project in the works.

“The Daily Wire is helping make one of my dreams — to develop and produce my own film — come true. I cried out and my prayer was answered," she wrote.

She then spoke out herself on cancel culture. "I am sending out a direct message of hope to everyone living in fear of cancellation by the totalitarian mob."

She concluded with this:

"I have only just begun using my voice which is now freer than ever before, and I hope it inspires others to do the same. They can’t cancel us if we don’t let them.”
