Stranger Notices Boy Shooting Basketball Into Trash Can And Buys Him His Own Hoop

Some people in the world see others trying to make do with what they have, and don't feel compelled to lend a helping hand.

However, when one man recently saw a boy attempting to shoot hoops into an empty trash can, he knew there was something he could do to make the young boy's basketball practice just a little bit better.

Although he was a total stranger, the man decided not to turn a blind eye to the boy, and bought him his very own basketball hoop so he could ditch the trash can once and for all.

It all began back in February when the man was driving down the street in Alexandria.

As Good Morning America reported, that was when 30-year-old Devin Hinkston noticed a boy shooting hoops in from of his house.

Upon closer observation, Hinkston noticed that the boy was aiming his basketball into an empty garbage can, since he didn't actually have a proper hoop.

Hinkston decided to do something to help the boy.

That same day, Patricia Williams and her 8-year-old grandson Jeremiah were treated to an unexpected surprise when Hinkston showed up with a brand new basketball hoop for the youngster.

According to a Facebook post from Williams, Jeremiah's face lit up when he saw the new hoop. He loves playing basketball at their local church and lugs his basketball with him everywhere he goes.

It was truly an emotional moment for everyone involved.

Hinktson is no stranger to random acts of kindness.

While this is one of his latest kind deeds, it's hardly his first. Hinkston has bought homeless people meals and jackets, helped kids that can't afford things at the corner store, and much more.

“I always do [random acts of kindness]," he told GMA. "I just never post about it on social media because that’s not the reason I’m doing it. I do it from the heart.”

He added that he plans to visit Jeremiah and his grandma to help out again when he can. It's clear that Hinkston is passionate about helping his community and going the extra mile.

Hinkson has big dreams for helping others even more.

As he told GMA, he dreams of having enough money to fund a nonprofit to help children be able to participate in recreational activities to have after school so kids like Jeremiah can have as many opportunities as possible.
