What can't Cher do?
Release beautiful music that makes you cry AND dance? She's done it. Deliver powerful, Oscar-winning acting performances? She's done that too. Stay absolutely drop-dead gorgeous all the way up to 74 years old and counting? Done! Rescuing the world's loneliest elephant and making a documentary about the process? She's doing that one right now.
The elephant was brought to the zoo as a gift from Sri Lanka when he was just one.
During Kaavan's stay at the zoo, he suffered from a lack of exercise as well as cracked and malformed nails due to his poor living conditions and was given the nickname of 'The World's Loneliest Elephant.'
At the time, Cher revealed that a documentary, Cher & The Loneliest Elephant, would be chronicling this journey, and it's been announced that it will be airing on Paramount+.
"I saw all the people being affected by it all over the world. People want a happy ending. People don't want to see animals suffer," Cher told Entertainment Weekly about the upcoming documentary.
"I was frightened [to do this], but then I thought, what do you want to do more? You made a promise, and you have to go. I didn't see any other way to do it," Cher explained.
The documentary will premiere on April 22nd on Paramount+, and on May 19th on the Smithsonian Channel.
