Catherine Zeta-Jones Shared The Secret To Her 20-Year Marriage With Michael Douglas

A 20-year marriage is impressive for any couple, but for a couple in Hollywood, it's pretty much unheard of! When actress Catherine Zeta Jones, 51, and Michael Douglas, 76, open up about their secret to a long and happy marriage, it seems like it would probably be pertinent advice to listen, because if anyone can last that long without planning a way for their spouse to mysteriously disappear, then they probably know what they're doing!

Catherine said that one of the most important things is that they enjoy each other's company!

“First of all, we have a lot of fun together," Catherine explained. I guess I already failed step one! (If my husband's reading this, I'm just kidding.)

"My husband is 25 years older than me; that’s not a secret. With any relationship, it wouldn’t be normal if there weren’t any ups and downs,” Catherine continued.

“The constant is love and respect," she went on.

"We’ve never, ever lost our sense of humor, and we enjoy each other’s company. My husband and I spend a lot of time together because, unlike so many couples, we’ve never had a 9-to-5 job where it’s consistent,” Catherine explained.

That sounds like both a blessing and a curse — nobody can drive you as crazy as someone you're with, like, ALL the time.

“We’re either on or we’re off," Catherine said of their work schedules.

"I’m really working 16 hours a day, or I’m not. He’s doing the same, or not. So we’ve had in our relationship huge amounts of time where we’ve been just us,” Catherine said.

Their 20-year marriage is sounding more and more impressive by the minute!

"We respect each other’s space, and our humor is just long-lasting,” she said.

We can all only hope to have our marriages last as long as Catherine and Michael's, as long as we can stay as much in love with each other as they seem to be!
