14 Celebrities Who Don't Believe In Marriage

Hollywood is divided into two camps when it comes to marriage.

While some celebs have been married multiple times, others are simply not the marrying kind. They prefer a long-term relationship without any sort of formal commitment.

Just look at Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell, a pair who have been happily together for over 37 years!

Here are 10+ celebs who who say "I don't" to "I do."

Sarah Silverman

If you're wondering why the comedian has never gotten married, blame the government.

"Why would I want the govt involved in my love life? Ew. It’s barbaric," she tweeted when pressed about why she hasn't gotten married.

Oprah Winfrey

CBS

She's been with her partner, Stedman Graham, for three decades without any formal commitment.

"We would not have stayed together, because marriage requires a different way of being in this world," she told Vogue.

Diane Keaton

She's been romantically linked to some of Hollywood's biggest stars over the years — Jack Nicholson, Warren Beatty, and Al Pacino — but never married any of them.

In 2010, Diane explained why to Katie Couric.

“I think the reason I didn’t get married was because I would have to compromise too much," she said after thinking for a long time.

"I wanted to try more adventurous things for myself.” She also said point-blankly that she's terrified of men.

SAME.

Jon Hamm

His parents' divorce when he was two has shaken his thoughts on wedded bliss.

"So it doesn’t mean anything to me," he told Playboy. "I don’t mean to say that it shouldn’t mean things to other people. I’m not judging it one way or another.”

Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell

These Hollywood sweethearts have been together for 37 years without any formal union!

They've spoken about this numerous times, including when Hawn told the hosts of Loose Women that she'd be divorced now had they married.

"Marriage is an interesting psychological thing. If you need to feel bound to someone, then it's important to be married," she said.

She went on to say that not being married has psychologically left them both feeling freer.

"For me, I chose to stay. Kurt chose to stay, and we like the choice."

Kristin Davis

Get this: the Sex and the City star is more like a Samantha and less like a Charlotte when it comes to "I do."

"I do remember being young and thinking, 'Why are all these people getting married?'" she told Haute Living.

Eva Mendes

To put it bluntly, the Hitch actress thinks that "marriage is unsexy." We wonder what her partner, Ryan Gosling, thinks of that.

During an appearance on Chelsea Lately, she said that she loves the thought of being with someone in your 50s and 60s and going, "That's my boyfriend.'"

Ricky Gervais

Despite being with his partner, Jane Fallon, for 30 years, the comedian isn't enticed by marriage.

"We don’t want any more toasters, we never want our families to meet, that would be terrible," he told David Letterman.

Lauren Graham

Like her Gilmore Girls character, Lauren has always had conflicting thoughts on marriage. She's been with her longtime boyfriend, Peter Krause, for over a decade.

“I feel like close to five years in Hollywood, its like, aren’t we married already really? It’s good the way it is," she told Ellen DeGeneres.

Winona Ryder

While she's been engaged twice, the Stranger Things star has never married.

She told The Edit that she'd rather never been married than be divorced a few times already. "Not that there's anything wrong with divorce, but I don't think I could do it if that was a possibility."

Susan Sarandon

One marriage was all the star could take.

After that, she pdated Tim Robbins](https://crafty.diply.com/145517/10-facts-about-susan-sarandon-fans-didnt-know) for over 20 years and had two children with him without ever walking down the aisle. After they split, she spoke out against marriage.

"I've always liked the idea of choosing to be with somebody," she told *The Telegraph*.

"I thought that if you didn't get married, you wouldn't take each other for granted as easily. I don't know if after twenty-something years that was still true," she said.

Charlize Theron

The star tragically didn't have the best example of marriage growing up. Her mother shot the actress's drunken and abusive father dead one night.

When she was on Piers Morgan Tonight in 2012, she declared that marriage isn't for her.

Instead, she'll take a long-term relationship.

(She was previously in one with Sean Penn).

"That’s the kind of union that I want. The actual ceremony is not something that is important to me—but I see the importance for other people.”

Scott Disick

While he tried to get married to Kourtney Kardashian on Keeping Up with the Kardashians several times, he's since changed his tune.

“I think if it’s not broke, don’t fix it," he told Ryan Seacrest.

Kate Hudson

Like mother, like daughter.

While she's been married before (she was married to Black Crowes’ singer, Chris Robinson, for almost 10 years), she doesn't see herself walking down the aisle anytime soon with Danny Fujikawa.

"Marriage is definitely not a golden ticket," she told *The Telegraph* in 2019.

"It’s not going to solve any challenges in a relationship," she said.

If they do get married, it will be more for the kids than them.
