Fans Drag Kate Winslet For Almost 'Outing' Closeted Celebrities In New Interview

When it comes to opening up about their sexuality, every person's decision to come out should be entirely their own, not the result of someone else's actions. Some fans online are concerned that a recent interview given by Kate Winslet will cause some celebrities to fear being outed, and they've taken to Twitter to share their concerns.

Kate Winslet recently gave an interview discussing the number of celebrities she knows or have worked with who are still in the closet.

"I cannot tell you the number of young actors I know — some well known, some starting out — who are terrified their sexuality will be revealed and that it will stand in the way of their being cast in straight roles," Kate said.

Kate didn't name any names, but stated that she knew "at least four" actors involved.

"A well-known actor has just got an American agent and the agent said, 'I understand you are bisexual. I wouldn't publicize that,'" Kate went on. "I can think of at least four actors absolutely hiding their sexuality."

Some fans have taken to Twitter to criticize Kate for causing speculation and almost 'outing' these celebrities.

"right. because we know how this goes. media outlets will try to approach her for the scoop she’s dangled in front of them. she’ll demurely smile and say her lips are sealed. somewhere a bunch of people are afraid of being outed!" one fan added, while another hailed the interview as "so gross."

Other fans however defended Kate, instead blaming fans who began speculating about specific actors based on Kate's words.

What do you think? Do you agree that Kate put unnecessary pressure and fear on any actors who haven't come out of the closet yet, or do you think Kate was right to speak up? Let us know how you feel in the comments!
