Figuring out what to get a friend when they have a baby can be difficult — you don't want to get them something that everyone's going to get them, because you don't want them to end up with six little onesies that say "I Love My Mom," but you also don't want to get them something so unique that they'll never use.
Luke Bryan went with a pretty interesting gift for American Idol co-star Katy Perry when she gave birth last year.
For some people, it seems like they already have everything they could possibly need, and what do you get the baby who has everything?
This is probably even tougher for celebrity friends who really can just go out and buy whatever they need! You have to get pretty unique, which is what Luke Bryan did for Katy Perry.
Katy and her partner, Orlando Bloom, announced the birth of their daughter Daisy Dove on Instagram on August 27th, 2020.
Katy Perry's fellow judge on American Idol, country musician Luke Bryan, recently discussed his unique baby present he gifted the family.
Katy revealed that the gifts given to her by her fellow Idol judges were perfectly in-character. “Lionel and Luke gave very Lionel and Luke gifts,” Katy revealed. “Lionel gave her a nice robe and then a bottle of champagne for mom and dad."
"Luke gave her a pink tractor and a Daisy BB gun. Look, us judges, we stay true to who we are," Katy said.
Luke opened up about this gift choice even further.
"It just seemed to be the right gift," Luke laughed with Jimmy Kimmel in a recent appearance on his show . "That'll never see the light of day," he joked, implying he didn't think Katy or Orlando would be handing the BB gun over to their daughter any time soon.
Some fans were not happy to hear that a baby was given a BB gun, even if the gift wasn't intended to be used until the baby was older.
"She probably promptly got rid of it. He must be a nut job," one fan shared on Facebook.
"Why would you give a baby that?" one fan asked alongside a gif of a child looking extremely confused.
The baby might've enjoyed a stuffed animal a bit more!
"Only an idiot would give a violent weapon to a child" a fan on Facebook wrote, but not everyone was against the idea.
"Katy isn't gonna take 7 month old Daisy out shooting, folks, no need to wig out over some country fellow's joking around," one fan wrote in defense of Luke's gift.
"C'mon guys clearly the gun isn't for the baby to play with! Luke's a country guy, he gave a country gift, neither of them seem mad about it!" one fan shared on Facebook.
