Giving birth takes a toll on any mom. Whether it's a vaginal birth or a C-section, the process of having a baby has a serious impact on our bodies and emotions.
Babies can range in length and in weight, and some are even born prematurely. However, there are also times when babies are born weighing quite a lot.
According to research, only 9% of babies born weigh more than 8 pounds, 13 ounces. Instead, babies are usually under that threshold.
Though very rare, there are studies and reports that indicate babies can be born weighing over 10 pounds.
One mom replied to the video sharing the story of giving birth to her son, and said, "I gave birth to a toddler."
"At 38 weeks and one day, I had my second son via C-section with two doctors assisting because he came in at a whopping 14 pounds, point six ounces," the mom said.
Her baby was also almost 24 inches long, too. She said he had to spend some time in the NICU after she had her c-section.
Sometimes, babies that are considered "large for their gestational age" are kept in the NICU. Sometimes, these babies experience low blood sugar and need to be monitored.
"The NICU didn't even have diapers for him or clothes, they had to go upstairs to pediatrics and get size three diapers and he came home in clothing, sized six to nine months," the mom added.
Giving birth to a baby of that size would worry any new mom, not to mention wondering if there would be any health complications down the road.
The mom also shared a follow-up video saying that her son is now five-years-old, and completely healthy and happy.
Many TikTok users had tons of jokes when looking at the video. One said, "At that point he able to pay bills."
One person joked and said that this baby drove himself home from the hospital. It doesn't seem to be too far off from the truth!
Some said that this baby is so big, he could play for the NFL the next day — or start college!
One TikTok user said that he's going to be hearing this story for the "rest of his life," as all moms tell the stories of our births forever. Hey, it not every day that a 14-pound baby is born!
