So what can you do to entertain them? As it turns out, that's something many chicken owners wonder about, too. But wait, there is a cool solution to this problem.
They are hanging up a whole head of cabbage so their chickens can peck at it. What? Ha, ha! That sounds like fun, no? Oh my goodness.
Wow, what a great idea! What do you think? I'm pretty sure if I were a chicken, I would agree, too.
It's a great exercise idea for the chickens, too. It is especially important in the winter when the chickens stay in the coop all day long. I would never have thought of that.
Well, there are a few options for you. You can grab some cabbage and drill a hole through it. Then you can run a rope through and hang up the cabbage in your coop or run.
For example, some folks have used an apple corer, a metal coat hanger, and a landscape nail. Regardless of your technique, I think you get the idea.
Then move it up slightly above their heads. That way, they will need to jump up and get more exercise out of it.
I do have to mention one important aspect for you to keep in mind. Don't leave the chickens unsupervised for too long. You wouldn't want them to get tangled in the rope or the mesh. Safety first, right?
I think it's so fabulous. I wish I knew about this a long time ago. We could have done it for my aunt's chicken coop. I think the hens and the rooster would get a kick out of it.
