Fans Upset After John Oliver 'Mocks' Prince Philip After His Passing: 'Just Vile'

There are some celebrities that you certainly don't expect to ever hold their tongue when it comes to sharing their opinions, and John Oliver is definitely one of them. The comedian and host of Last Week Tonight has made a career off sharing exactly how he feels about any subject without mincing words, and it turns out he feels the same when it comes to the death of Prince Philip.

While doing an interview with Seth Meyers, John was asked about how he felt about Prince Philip's passing.

"It's difficult when a 99-year-old with such a checkered moral history leaves us. It's hard to know exactly how to feel or, indeed, to actually articulate how you actually do," John said in response.

John also referenced the fact that Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip were cousins.

"They were very close," John said.

"And I don't think it was just restricted to them. I believe that family is familiar with one another," John continued. "In the way they can't be close emotionally, they certainly are close biologically, and I think that's something."

Fans were not happy with these remarks.

"I’m sure mocking the death of an old man will convert millions to his cause," tweeted one fan.

"John Oliver is just pissy because Prince Philip was funnier than him," added another.
