'Chocolate Cherry' Sunflowers Have A Decadent Burgundy Color

Chocolate cherry what now?

Yup, you read the title right. Apparently, chocolate cherry sunflowers exist, and they're absolutely beautiful!

If you're like me, you had no idea that more than one kind of sunflower existed before now. Apparently, quite a few varieties of the iconic flower exist, and in deep tones! Let's check it out.

I did not see this color coming.

Did you know sunflowers come in other colors? I sure didn't. This is the "Chocolate Cherry" sunflower, so named for their dark burgundy color and chocolatey centre. Don't eat it, though. Thank you.

Like most sunflowers, they like direct sunlight.

They should be planted when it's warm, and in warm soil. They don't tolerate frost well, so you'll have to dig them up or bring them indoors when winter comes.

Their blooms can range in intensity.

Some will stay a lighter burgundy, while some will actually turn a chocolate color! It just depends on the flower. That's half the fun of growing things, isn't it?

You can get the seeds for them online.

Luckily, sunflower seeds are incredibly easy to come by. You can get a pack for $2.99 right here!

What do you think? Would you plant these bad boys?
