Michael B. Jordan Addresses Rumors That He's The Next Superman

With a JJ Abrams Superman reboot finally in the works, the internet has been going nuts wondering who will be wearing the red and blue suit.

While Henry Cavill seems like the obvious choice given his history as the Man of Steel, there is another buff actor fans have in mind: Michael B. Jordan.

After years of speculation, he finally shared his thoughts!

Michael B. Jordan knows a thing or two about casting rumors.

When Daniel Craig first announced he was retiring from the James Bond franchise, he was one of the first names thrown in the ring to replace him.

Even singer Billie Eilish voiced her support for this idea.

If you remember, she sang the theme song, "No Time to Die" in the latest film.

No Time to Die also marked Craig's fifth and final performance as Bond.

"Honestly, Michael B. Jordan would kill that [expletive],” Eilish said during a radio interview earlier about Jordan taking over the role. “I think he’d kill it.”

Jordan has also gotten his name attached to Superman from the DC world.

This began when he met with Warner Bros. and pitched his own ideas for the DC character.

Back then, there was only talk that director JJ Abrams (Guardians of the Galaxy) would reboot the Superman films.

But now, in 2021, we have confirmation that it's happening.

This comes after his company, Bad Robot, signed a huge deal with WarnerMedia in 2019.

Abrams won't be handling the writing duties, though. That will be Ta-Nehisi Coates, who wrote some of the Black Panther comics, starting in 2015.

Soon, after the news was released, the internet began speculating whether Henry Cavill would reprise his role as the Man of Steel.

He first debuted as Superman back in 2013 as part of Zack Snyder's 2013 Man of Steel.

Unfortunately, the film didn't live up to Warner. Bros expectations in the box office.

The British actor has spoken out about the criticism, calling Snyder's approach to the film "niche."

"When anything is niche, it's gonna be liked and loved by some, and disliked by others. That's the whole point of niche, so, yeah," he told Fox 5.

Instead of a *Man of Steel* sequel, he starred opposite Ben Affleck's Batman in *Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice*, followed by *Justice League*.

DC

But since a stand-in for Cavill as Superman was used in DC's Shazam! film, many believe that Cavill has hung up his cape. At least for now.

So with Henry potentially out, people began looking at the next most-worthy man for the job: Michael B. Jordan.

He's already part of the superhero world, as he played villain Erik Killmonger in Marvel's Black Panther opposite the late Chadwick Boseman.

After years of speculation, he finally sat down and discussed those rumors during a recent interview with Jake Takes.

"You hear the whispers and the rumors and stuff like that and it's just a compliment," he said of playing Superman.

"I appreciate people that think about me in that type of way for these roles. I don't really have anything more to kind of give on that, other than it's just flattering and I appreciate it."

He also had some words about the upcoming reboot: "Whoever they get, or if it goes that way, I think it'll be an interesting thing to see."

Since Jordan and Ta-Nehisi Coates have a history together with Black Panther, we can't help but hope their connection leads to them working together!
