10+ Celebrities Who Had Low-Key Weddings

Not everyone dreams of a big wedding.

There are many people who would be happy getting married in a coat closet, as long as it meant that they were marrying their love.

Many private celebs fall into this category. Some of their weddings were so low-key, not even their guests knew what was happening!

1. Ed Sheeran and Cherry Seaborn

When the singer dropped his "No. 6 Collaborations Project" album, he confirmed that he had married his longtime girlfriend.

It's been reported that they got hitched at their home in Suffolk, England, in front of 40 friends and family members.

2. Beyoncé and Jay-Z

As two of the richest people on earth, the couple could have sprung for an over-the-top extravagant wedding.

But instead, they kept things small with a ceremony inside Jay-Z's New York City apartment with only 40 guests.

Bey later opened up about the super-secret nuptials.

“There was no rush — no one expected me to run off and get married,” she told Seventeen.

“I really don’t believe that you will love the same thing when you’re 20 as you do at 30. So that was my rule: Before the age of 25, I would never get married."

3. Jessica Alba and Cash Warren

When the pair got married in 2008, they did so in the most low-key way possible: in a courthouse.

The actress didn't even wear a wedding dress since she was nine months pregnant at the time.

4. Keira Knightley and James Righton

"We're not really big-wedding types," Keira Knightley told Marie Claire in 2013.

Suffice to say, they had a 10-minute ceremony in the south of France with only 10 people in attendance, including the mayor who wed them.

5. Ilana Glazer and David Rooklin

The Broad City actress was about as low-key about her wedding as she was announcing it on Instagram.

They had a small City Hall ceremony in 2017. "It was crazy. It was pretty casual, it was just chill. It's very 'us,'" she later told Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest.

6. Megan Fox and Brian Austin Green

Back when the couple was still together, they had a barefoot wedding ceremony in 2010 in Hawaii.

It was officiated by a Hawaiian priest and the actor’s son, Kassius, who was eight at the time, was their only witness.

7. Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz

The couple has always been super private about their relationship, so it was no surprise that their nuptials were low-key.

They got married in 2011 with two guests in attendance: his daughter, her son, and two family friends.

Craig shared the reason for the privateness in an interview with *GQ*

"We got away with it. We did it privately. And I've got a lot of people to thank for that. But that was the point. We did it for private reasons," he said.

He also refused to reveal details about the wedding.

8. Carey Mulligan and Marcus Mumford

It doesn't get much more low-key than getting married in a barn.

That's what the couple did for their 2012 wedding in the countryside of Somerset, England. They had a few celeb guests, such as Adele and Sienna Miller.

9. Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick

The couple kept their 1997 wedding so secretive, not even their guests knew that they were getting married!

In order to have guests think they were attending a normal party, the Sex and the City star even wore a black dress.

SJP told *Marie Claire* in 2006 that they didn't like the attention of a big wedding.

"I was too embarrassed to get married in white, and both Matthew and I were reluctant to have people pay so much attention to us," she said.

10. Kate Winslet and Ned Rocknroll

In the same vein as SJP and Matthew Broderick, this couple surprised their friends and family with their nuptials.

This even included their parents who had no idea they were getting married. Not so low-key: Leonardo DiCaprio gave Kate away!

11. Matt Damon and Luciana Bozán Barroso

When the Bourne Idenity married his ladylove in 2005, they only had one person in attendance: Luciana's daughter from a previous marriage.

The courthouse wedding was held in-between his filming schedule of The Good Shepard, which meant he was back to work the next day.

12. Miranda Lambert and Brendan Mcloughlin

The country singer surprised fans with her wedding when she shared the news on Instagram.

"In honor of Valentine’s Day I wanted to share some news. I met the love of my life. And we got hitched!” Lambert wrote on Instagram on Feb. 16, 2019.

13. Ellen DeGeneres and Portia De Rossi

The pair didn't need a pricy venue to get hitched in; just their backyard!

They had first announced their engagement a day after same-sex marriage became legal in California and then got hitched in 2008 with 30 guests.

14. Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden

It's not surprising in the least that this super-private couple opted for a low-key wedding ceremony at home.

This happened back in January 2015. Since then, they had a super-secret pregnancy with their first child.

15. Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka

"Guess what? David Burtka and I got married over the weekend," the How I Met Your Mother actor shared on Twitter in 2014.

"In Italy. Yup, we put the 'n' and 'd' in 'husband." This was in front of their friends, family, their twins, and Elton John.

16. Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard

The couple that once forgot their wedding anniversary are definitely the ones who had a low-key ceremony.

This took place at a Beverly Hills Courthouse in 2013, just months after the Supreme Court made same-sex marriage legal in California.
