Woman Hatches Adorable Duckling From A Supermarket Egg

One woman from Port Talbot has been left somewhat flabbergasted after she managed to hatch a duckling from an egg that she purchased at Morrison's supermarket.

Adele Phillips first saw that hatching ducks from store-bought eggs could be done on TikTok.

If there is one thing that TikTok loves it is a cute trend — and as far as cute trends go, hatching painfully adorable ducklings is one of the best we've seen!

When Ms Phillips first saw someone hatching a store-bought duck egg on TikTok she decided to give it a go herself and went straight to Morrison's to buy a six pack of duck eggs.

To Ms Phillips' surprise, one of the eggs that she had bought turned out to be fertile!

At first, Ms Phillips kept the eggs in her airing cupboard to keep them nice and warm. However, once an incubator arrived that she had purchased online, she relocated the ducks eggs. I guess this goes to show that you can buy the equipment for any hobby on the internet!

"I put all 6 inside and looked up the hatching and incubating process online, I set it to 37.5 degrees and waited 10 days to see whether or not they were fertile, you can tell by shining a torchlight into the egg in the dark. It's called 'candling' and if you see veins by day 10 of incubation, you have a fertile egg," Ms Phillips told Bored Panda.

Ms Phillips documented the egg's progress on her TikTok account as she waited patiently for it to hatch.

On day 27, there showed signs that the duckling was ready to emerge. "I continued the process of turning it 3-4 times a day, spraying it with water and bringing it to room temperature, and putting it back in for a few hours before repeating the turning," Ms Phillips explained.

Forty-eight hours later, little "Braddock Morris" was out in the world!

Ms Phillips gave him the name "Braddock" due to the type of egg she initially bought being called "Braddock Whites," and she gave him his surname after the supermarket that she purchased his egg from.

Worried that Braddock would be lonely, Ms Phillips has since found him a little brother called "Beryl" to keep him company.

Ms Phillips is over-the-moon with the result of her 30-day experiment, and who wouldn't be?

Ms Phillips had initially planned on giving the duck away if it hatched, but now she is convinced that she and Braddock will be inseparable from now on.

It is easy to see why Ms Phillips would decide to keep Braddock, that little duckling could melt anyone's heart!
