Boy Teaches Himself To Sew To Make Bears For Sick Children Around The World

Many parents have to teach their children the importance of empathy for others. It's a vital lesson for them to learn about sharing, listening to others, and helping out. However, every now and then, children are not only naturally empathetic, but they also go above and beyond others when it comes to serving communities in need. One boy taught himself to sew to make toys for sick children, and we think that's setting the bar for empathy pretty darn high.

Campbell Remess is not your typical kid.

While other children spend time asking to play video games, playing outside or something else that they enjoy, Remess is making toys for children in need. He loves sewing toys and donating them so much that he wishes he could do it 24/7.

His goal of giving started when he was only nine-years-old

Growing up in a family with eight other siblings, Remess's family couldn't afford any extra expenses. So, when Remess asked them to buy toys for him to give to sick children for Christmas, they had to say no. However, Remess didn't let go of his goal.

Remess taught himself how to sew.

After looking up a sewing pattern online, Remess was determined to learn how to sew. His mother was unable to help because she had no sewing experience either. However, Remess still didn't let that stop him, he decided to teach himself how to sew.

It took some true dedication.

It took countless days of practicing and a few sewing accidents for Remess to learn how to successful make stuffed animals. Before long, Remes was completing stuffed animals quickly, and the quality became outstanding.

He aimed to make a bear each day.

Once Remess became a skilled stuffed animal maker, his ambition grew even more. He started Project 365, which is all about his goal to make stuffed animals and give them to sick children all over the world.

Remess has made over 800 stuffed animals in only three years

Remess has been working nonstop to donate stuffed animals to children at Royal Hobart Hospital in Tasmania and around the world.

People donate to Project 365 to support Remess' mission.
