If there's one thing that's hard to handle, it's getting rejected by someone that we are interested in. Not everyone handles rejection well, but not everyone rejects people gracefully, either. Sometimes, people can be real jerks when they are trying to break things off with others. And, for that, we can't help but wonder—what the hell is wrong with them?
Luckily, these brave souls shared the worst ways they've been rejected so we can feel a little better about ourselves.
One guy took a girl on their very first date and after dinner, they ended up at a nice club. A guy began to stare at her and she excused herself to go talk to him. Of course, the guy thought she was asking him to stop, but...turns out she gave the guy her number.!
"In middle school my friend wrote a letter to his crush asking her to a dance. Dropped it on her desk and then left because he was nervous. As we walked outside we watched her through the window reading it, laughing, and then getting a bunch of her friends to come over and they read it together laughing their asses off," said wooztheweb.
"Preemptive rejection. I've had it happen a couple times. Both times were with women/girls who were part of a circle of friends. I never showed any interest in either, but, somehow, they both felt the need to say, out of the blue, "I'll never sleep with you," added Squigglepig52.
"When I lived in SoCal in the early 2000's there was a bogus phone # girls could give people who asked for their #. An answering machine would then play a message saying 'Sorry, you've been REJECTED. LOL' And hang up on you," HellaFella420 added.
One Reddit user said her own parents rejected her. After being the first person in the family to graduate college, catchmeatthebar said her parents wouldn't come and said it was "not a big deal." She recalls crying in the grass while everyone else celebrated with their families.
"Getting stood up. Sitting at a bar alone, all dressed up, waiting for him to arrive. He never showed. Maybe he saw me and was disappointed and left? Maybe he just ghosted for no reason? Who know but it was humiliating," shared Dive-kite-cat.
One girl said that her boyfriend dumped her because she "wasn't religious enough" to date him. But, months later on a school trip, he got sent home for "having sex with a girl in the bathroom." WOW.
"Stringing you along so you upend your life, move across country, buy and start renovating a house, and only then learn that she wasn't really serious," shared Reddit user yParticle.
"Asked a girl for her phone number one night at the bar, she smiled and happily gave it to me. Waited a few days and called it, turns out it was for a funeral home.
I died a little inside that day," i_iz_potato shared.
One guy said he took out a former co-worker on a date and when they were at the bar, her ex-boyfriend showed up. The girl was acting strange and excused herself to go to the bathroom. She had been gone for a while, and when he went to see if she was okay, he caught her sitting on her ex's lap at the bar as they were making out.
"Dude I know knocked up his girlfriend that he had only known for three months.
He was a real loser with none of his [expletive] together, but he still impulsively asked her to marry him.
She bluntly told him she was getting an abortion, and she never wanted to see him again.
Obviously she was right, but still, ouch," added Brocky70.
"true story,last year i liked a girl, i told her, she didn't say much after until one night, I was looking at tiktok and there was a tiktok of her rejecting me to the public."her saying ew, and how I was quite ugly" ....deleted tiktok since then," said RGNlingling.
"I was on my way to work and got broken up through text with a smiley face emoji. It was out of the blue & a month ago we were talking about moving in together in another state," shared Anxietywithflair.
After working with a classmate on a project, one guy decided to ask her out for coffee. When she found out it was a coffee date, she responded, "ew no."
