Pregnant Woman Gets Back At Boss Who Tells Her To Tuck Her Shirt In: 'Malicious Compliance'

How's your work life?

We're going to bet it's a LOT better than what happened to one pregnant worker at a pet store.

When a new manager showed up, clueless and not up-to-date on company policies, he asked her and another pregnant worker to tuck their shirts in.

Cut to her hilarious "compliance," tons of customer complaints, and the well-deserved firing of said manager.

Reddit user zzz0mbiez shared her story to the Reddit community Malicious Compliance.

NBC

In case you didn't know, this is when someone follows the orders of a superior while knowing FULL well that the results will not be positive in the end.

She started by saying that she previously worked at a big pet store chain.

"Back then employees were required to tuck their uniform shirts into their khakis, with an exemption for pregnant female employees (which I was at the time of this occurrence)," she wrote.

She had no issues with this for months. She was able to work successfully at the cash register with her shirt untucked.

Then came a new (read: clueless) manager.

He proceeded to call her and another pregnant employee into his office to tell them that their uniforms are lacking.

The women were dumbfounded: "Everything was neat and clean, so we both had no clue what he was talking about."

After digging deeper, he shared that their shirts have to be tucked in.

Keep in mind that they're both around eight months pregnant at this time and that company policy dictates that pregnant employees don't have to tuck in their shirts!

Did he listen to this, though? Nope.

"He waves his hand at us and says that we are incorrect and that all employees must tuck their shirts," they wrote.

Even after another manager went to bat for the women, the clueless manager said that previous management was just being lax. He then left for the rest of the day.

Next came their malicious compliance. While they tucked in their shirts, the pregnant women had to get creative.

This meant that one put their pants all the way up to their ribs, while the other had to leave their fly open to accommodate for the tucked in shirt.

"I had my shirt tucked into my belly band just below my boobs, and the other cashier had hers tucked in to her hair band closed pants, below her belly and with her leopard print underwear exposed," she wrote.

Given how absurd they looked, customers soon took notice.

Customers complained, as did coworkers who called the employee hotline. Suffice to say, the district manager was pissed.

When the clueless manager came back to the store, he asked them why they're dressed like that and then took them back to his office to yell at them.

Thankfully, the district manager came in just then to apologize, tell the girls to untuck their shirts, and even took them out to lunch.

As for the manager, well, he was sent back to HR training and eventually fired for a similar violation. Karma really is everything, isn't it?

The Redditor was applauded for their magnificent malice compliance!

"This is just the most perfect malicious compliance. And cheers to your district manager for tearing clueless manager a new one. And cheers for your regular customers kicking up a [expletive] storm on your behalf," wrote one user.

People were also extremely upset at the manager taking away their stools with the reasoning, "if you can lean, you can clean."

Ugh. "Whoever came up with this ridiculous saying needs to be seriously flogged to within an inch of his/her life..." commented Reddit user Chum_Gum6838.
