Celebrity Baby Names That Got A Lot Of Heat But Are Pretty Cool

Baby-names are always a point of contention and that seems to bode double for celebrities in Hollywood. Not only do they have to worry about the judgments of their family but the entire world at large.

Because of this, celebrity parents are often dragged through the mud over the names they choose for their children. But today, I'm here to point out the baby names that got a lot of heat but are actually pretty cool.

Daisy Dove

Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry both took a bit of heat in the media when they revealed their daughter's name to the world. Katy explained that the word Daisy is meant to represent purity, while Dove symbolizes peace.

Raddix

Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden are a truly radical couple. So it only makes sense that the name of their child would reflect that in some way. Plus, can you imagine how cool it would be growing up with the nickname, "Rad"?

Kal-El

It's no secret that Nicolas Cage is a diehard comic book fanatic. But what some people may not realize is that Nic's son is a living homage to Superman.

Kal-El is Clark Kent/Superman's Kryptonian name, given to him by his birth parents.

Lyra Antarctica

Ed Sheeran and Cherry Seaborn decided to name their daughter Lyra Antarctica after taking a trip together to earth's southernmost continent.

Her first name is inspired by the popular fantasy novel/HBO series His Dark Materials, which Ed believes are some of the greatest books ever written.

Rumer

Bruce Willis and Demi Moore have always walked to the beat of their own drum, and their eldest daughter is no exception.

At the time, a gender-neutral name would have been considered strange, but nowadays it's become much more normalized.

Kingston James McGregor, Zuma Nesta Rock, and Apollo Bowie Flynn

Gavin Rossdale and Gwen Stefani were two incredibly cool parents. If I had a name like Apollo Bowie Flynn, I'd get it made into a t-shirt and wear it all around town.

Gravity

When you're parents are named Lucky Blue Smith and Stormi Bree, just be fortunate that you didn't walk away with a name like Lavender Icicle or Chastain Vert.

Plus, whenever I hear the word "Gravity" my mind immediately wanders toward John Mayer.

Maddox and Shiloh

I always liked the name Shiloh and I still think it's incredibly cute. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie Pitt never made a habit of standing on ceremonies and are without question two of the best baby-namers that Hollywood has ever seen. Respect it.

Luna Simone

John Legend and Chrissy Teigen didn't name their daughter until two days after she was born. Her first name was inspired by a giant blood moon that appeared in the sky, and her middle name is a nod to music legend, Simone Stephens.

Rhodes Robert

Rhodes Robert is a pretty badass name. The double alliteration makes the kid sound like some kind of superhero or space cowboy.

Emma Roberts and Garrett Hedlund might have just given birth to the new generation's Clint Eastwood.

Blue Ivy

Nobody mocks The Queen, at least not to her face. But that being said, plenty of people had plenty to say in the media about Jay-Z and Beyoncé's bundle of joy.

I still think Blue Ivy sounds a bit like a cologne brand, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

Apple

No matter what Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow seemed to do, fans and the media at large were always waiting with bated breath to tear them down.

I personally would be happy to see more children bearing the names of fruit; like Pear or Plum.

Sylvester Apollo Bear

Emily Ratajkowski and Sebastian Bear-McClard didn't stray too far from the family name pool, as you can clearly see.

Also, does anyone else realize that there's a good chance that this kid will grow up with the nickname, Sly Bear? How cool is that?!

X Æ A-12

Elon Musk and Grimes are clearly out to make enemies of their child's future grade school teachers. The name might appear intimidating, but it's apparently pronounced just like "Ash."

Which is actually pretty normal-sounding, when you think about it.

Pilot Inspektor

Jason Lee and Beth Riesgraf named their son after a song written by Grandaddy. The title track is called "He's Simple, He's Dumb, He's the Pilot."

The lyrics aren't exactly endearing toward the child but I suppose it's personal if nothing else?

Sunday Molly

Mike Myers and Kelly Tisdale had dual inspiration for why they named their daughter Sunday Molly.

The first was the fact that they hated Sundays and wanted to turn the day into something positive. And the other is that the name Molly is an ode to Mike's aunt.

Bear Blu

Christopher Jarecki and Alicia Silverstone took some serious flack for this, but I think that being named after one of the strongest animals on the planet would have its perks.

It would be almost as if you're always walking hand-in-hand with your spirit animal, every single moment of your life.

Aleph

You likely are already aware that Alpha is the first letter in the Greek alphabet.

In the same vein, Benjamin Millepied and Natalie Portman named their son Aleph because it is the first letter in the Hebrew alphabet.

Kulture Kiari

The Migos' last three albums have been called Culture I-III, respectfully. Cardi B and Offset were likely naming their daughter as an homage to his music career.

Kulture's second name is a nod to Offset's legal name, which is Kiari Kendrell Cephus

Sparrow James Midnight

Joel Madden and Nicole Richie may have just won the prize for the coolest baby name ever. Sparrow James Midnight sounds like some kind of legendary folk singer or movie star.

With a name like that, how could he grow up to be anything but?

Reign

I actually really like the name that Scott Disick and Kourtney Kardashian chose. It's not necessarily the spelling that I would have gone with but to each their own. Reign is a powerful name if ever there was one.

Fuschia

Sting and Frances Tomelty have never conformed to what others thought they should be. The fact that they chose to name their daughter Fuschia should come as no surprise. Plus, it also happens to be an incredibly beautiful flower.

Halo, Heaven, and Harmony

2 Chainz and Kesha Ward definitely had a theme in mind when it came to naming their children. These kids are adorable and have even been known to make appearances on their father's Vice series, Most Expensivest.
