Woman On TikTok Claims We've Been Eating Hot Dogs All Wrong

I, like any normal person, love a good hot dog. Despite what people might try to tell you, a hot dog every now and again won't hurt you — it's good for the soul! Just ask Betty White!

Everyone loves this BBQ classic, but did you know we might have all been eating these delicious dogs wrong?

Let's take a deeper dive, shall we?

Hot dogs are one of the first foods we become familiar with as children. Just think about how many of your first food memories involve them!

I didn't mean for this article to turn into a love letter to the all mighty meat tube, but alas, here we are!

Whether it's barbequed, baked into a "blanket" or boiled, hot dogs are a comfort food to many!

However, how would you feel if I told you you have been eating this American classic wrong all these years?

Would you be unsettled, because I am sure am!

According to TikTok user @sheeenamarieq, we've all been making one key mistake when it comes to chowing down.

In a video shared to the popular app, Sheena shows us how to avoid "messy ketchup and mustard on your lips."

She begins by dressing her hot dog in the usual condiments before taking it and SPINNING IT UPSIDE DOWN!

That way, the ketchup and mustard are facing down in the bun, and won't get all over your face!

This could have saved me so many embarrassing moments and napkins!

Naturally, the comments were filled with debate about this hack.

While some people thought the idea was brilliant, others wanted to know why she didn't just put the condiments on before adding the hot dog.

Of course, there's no wrong or right way to eat this time treasured snack, but it is interesting to see this new hot dog hack!

There were also some people getting a little hot about what sauces should be on a hot dog!

A shockingly high amount of people were against the idea of ketchup on a hotdog, which is weird, right? Some comments came in the forms of:

"Ketchup on a hotdog for anyone over 10 should be a crime."

And, "Stopped watching when they put the ketchup on."

A few individuals were annoyed that the trick wouldn't work for them though...

One oddly disgruntled person pointed out: "That only works if you're using only ketchup and mustard and maybe a little relish, but if you pile on the toppings like I do you can't do that"!

Were you already doing this hack, or has this been an eye-opener?

While a handful of hotdog hipsters claimed that they have been doing this since the 80s, this idea is news to us.

Let us know in the comments below if you'll be trying this new hack in the future!
