Adam Levine Speaks Out After His 'Demeaning' Reaction To A Fan Who Jumped On Stage

Look, I'm a big believer that being a celebrity is one of the easiest jobs in the world. Sure, it comes with its challenges and controversies — I don't deny that, but it also comes with a very generous paycheque that means they'll never have to worry about the things we everyday folk worry about.

With this power comes great responsibility, and a lot of fans, which means you're under a microscope a lot.

I can't lie to you all, when I hear about a celebrity being rude, it *really* grinds my gears.

However, we always have to consider the context of what's going on.

If a celebrity is on a red carpet and ignores all their fans, I think we can all agree that's kind of lame.

If a celebrity ignores someone asking for a picture outside their home, they have every right to ignore them and should probably call the police.

Recently, Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine got called out for his reaction after a fan stormed the stage at a show.

"This lady jumped on stage during Maroon 5's performance..." the text overlay on the video, uploaded by user @luispenaloze9525, reads. "Adam Levine was not having it."

The video quickly went viral and a lot of fans had A LOT to say about it.

"[He] looked like a 5 year old kid [sic] throwing a tantrum," said one user.

"That was a demeaning response to humiliate her," echoed another.

"yeah. Just changed my perception of him lmao. He could have acted in a respectful way," commented a different user.

"A true performer entertainer singer would not do this obviously everyone is vaccinated at that concert," echoed someone else.

Thankfully for Adam, not everyone was so quick to gang up on the singer.

"Nope," commented user Sarah Hester Ross. "How about we stop defending people touching other people without consent."

"He doesn't even have to be humbled," echoed a different user. "A random person invaded his personal space during a pandemic."

Others began to point out that if the roles were reversed and it was a man who stormed the stage to hug a female artist, people would be quick to call out how uncool that is.

"If a male fan was that aggressive with a female celebrity this comment section would look way different. She's not entitled to touch him or anyone," said one fan.

Now, Adam is responding to the criticism the video has received in a new Instagram story.

"I just wanted to address the Hollywood Bowl incident thing, a fan coming up to me onstage," Adam begins in the video, as per E! News.

"I have always been someone that loves, respects, worships our fans. Without our fans, we don't have a job. I say that all the time, to our fans," he explained.

"To think that anyone would believe that I thought that our fans were beneath us, or less than us, makes my stomach turn. That's just not who I am. That's not who I've ever been."

He continued: "So I just need you guys to know I was really startled, and sometimes when you're startled...you have to shake it off and move on."

"Because I'm doing my job up there. And it's what I pride myself on, so I need to let you guys know what my heart is, and my heart is that connection that exists between the band performing onstage and the fans."

"I hope we can all understand that," the singer concluded, before blowing a kiss to the camera.

I think it's safe to say she totally caught Adam off guard, and his reaction seemed to be one made out of surprise and shock.
