Woman's Controversial Bathtub Cleaning Hack Goes Viral: 'It's Not Magic'

When it comes to bathroom cleanliness, I think it's safe to say that's something we all care deeply about — as we should — I personally prefer to not get clean in a room that's harboring mold and mildew.

We all know to wash our hands after using the toilet, and we all know to shut the toilet lid before we flush, but did you know you might not have been washing your bathtub correctly?

Here's an obvious statement — taking a bath in a poorly cleaned bathtub will not actually get you clean.

I'm sure you've heard the jokes about how baths are just germ soups seasoned by humans anyway, but all of us bath lovers know that visual is a small price to pay for the relaxation we get from it.

However, prepare to be deeply unrelaxed at the idea that we may not have been washing our tubs right this whole time.

For me, I spray the whole tub down with my favorite cleaner and then spend a few minutes on my knees scrubbing, sweating, and cursing.

Now, one TikTok user is claiming there is a better way.

A woman named Morgan shared that her BFF's mom told her to clean her bathtub with Lysol toilet bowl cleaner after she claimes she "tried everything" to restore her dirty bathtub.

"Literally I just run this [explective] all over the tub, all along the edges," she explained in the voice-over as the video shows her lining the tub with the cleaner.

"Then take a tub scrub brush and spread it evenly," she explained, before warning people to not use a sponge to rub in the cleaner, as it can lead to chemical burns on their hands.

"I messed up the first time and learned it the hard way," she recalled.

Once the Lysol has been scrubbed all over the bathtub, Morgan said the final step is simply rinsing to reveal a club tub.

While some people were huge fans of the helpful tip, others warned of its long-term effects.

"PSA: Do not do this if you have a paint kit finish on your tub," wrote one user.

"It will ruin it after a while. I learned the hard way."

"It's not magic," said another. "It's ACID!"

"This will eat your plumbing!" echoed a different user.

It's clear that this hack comes with its fair share of critics, so please be careful before you try at your own risk!
