Cat Refuses To Climb Christmas Tree After Owner Creates Tangerine 'Force Field'

Having pets makes everything better, especially the holidays. There's nothing I love more than putting little Santa hats on my dogs, or jingle bells on my cats. However, there are some downsides to having furry friends during these festive times, and if you have a cat, then you know what exactly I'm talking about.

Now, one pet owner is figuring out a solution to their pesky pet problem and it involves everyone's favorite holiday fruit.

Speaking with The Dodo, cat owner Irene Olocco shared how loving her cat Victor is.

Nothing phases this friendly feline, except for one thing — tangerines.

"We were together on the couch, I grabbed a tangerine and, as I began to peel it, he hissed and ran away," she recalled to the publication.

As it turns out, all orange-like fruits were a no-go for Victor.

After learning this information, Irene used this fear to her advantage and used tangerines to keep Victor away from things she didn't want him to destroy.

"I began to put oranges or tangerines on the furniture where I didn't want him to climb on and it worked," she recalled.

When Christmas time rolled around, Irene knew justt what she had to do to keep Victor away from the tree.

"In the middle of the morning I decided to eat a tangerine and the brilliant idea struck … It worked immediately!”

"Poor Victor you can’t cross your tangerine force field it’s OK sweetheart. maybe mommy can get to your own mini Christmas tree!" joked one follower.

"This is NOT something new about cats. We all know that cats don't like oranges," said another.

This is just my favorite thing I've seen all day, and I'm sure it's yours, too!
