Anderson Cooper has enjoyed too long an uninterrupted run as the archetypal silver fox. Far too long has he not been challenged by looking in any manner unattractive! We must rise up against the man and take back the means of attractiveness!
Well, we don't have to do much rising up, because he kind of took himself down a peg for us.
A new, beardy look — if you can call it a beard, which you can, but it would be really generous. He was immediately ribbed for it by guest Conan O'Brien, who asked, "Are you okay, Anderson? Is it the beard? What’s going on with you? Are you having a breakdown of some kind?"
“It looks like you briefly dipped your chin into a sugar bowl.”
While attempting to recover from this roast session, Anderson cited fellow CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer as his beard-spiration. “I call it the Blitzer beard challenge,” he joked.
Although some found the humor in the situation. One user tweeted, "When Anderson Cooper doesn’t shave, the subtext is “too much news!!”"
In all seriousness, Anderson took the teasing in stride and seemed amused by Conan's light ribbing, and he's still probably the most handsome man on the news, so not much has changed.
We just all know growing a beard doesn't come easily to him.
