Fans Want Macaulay Culkin To Star In 'Home Alone' Reboot And He Responded

In case you haven't heard, Disney is rebooting Home Alone for its Disney+ app.

One person decided to petition for the film's original star, Macaulay Culkin, to reprise his role with no questions ask. And let's just say that things escalated from there.

The original film came out in 1990.

Wikipedia

It's a frickin' classic Christmas movie, in which one boy's parents totally forget him at home and leave him behind while they go on vacation.

Guys, the plot of Home Alone is kinda weird?

Anyway, it starred Macaulay Culkin as Kevin, as well as Joe Pesci, John Heard, and Catherine O'Hara.

(Speaking of Catherine O'Hara...)

I'm taking time out of both of our days to tell you to watch her in Schitt's Creek, which is the funniest show you're not watching.

Unless you are. In that case, carry on, David.

The film was a box office smash.

Wikipedia

It was so successful that it reigned as the highest-grossing comedy of all-time until 2011, when The Hangover Part II finally took its crown.

That's two decades of uninterrupted success. That is absolutely wild.

Now, Disney is remaking it.

Why? Man, I wish I knew.

They're remaking it for Disney+, their new streaming app that will also see films like Cheaper by the Dozen, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, and Night at the Museum also remade.

Night at the Museum is a perfect movie, but go off I guess, Disney.

Not much is known about the remake right now.

Disney only has the option to remake Home Alone because of its acquisition of 20th Century Fox, which owned the rights to the film.

I guess Disney paid $71 billion dollars to watch a kid own a whole new generation of parents.

One Twitter user had a legendary idea.

Lawrence here? He's a thinkin' man.

I can picture it now: a fully grown Kevin with teenaged siblings, parents younger than he is, trying to survive in a house with no wi-fi.

Call him, Disney.

Macaulay had thoughts on the matter.

I can't believe Lawrence got that far with his tweet and then biffed it on the math.

Wait. Plot twist. It's possible Lawrence was unaware that Macauley Culkin had just turned 39 in late August.

Yeah, I'm going with that explanation.

But he did have a follow up nitpick:

Alright, so we have the writer confirmed, the star interested...who's gonna direct it now?

Let's just bring Christopher Columbus back to direct it. He slayed every beloved film in the '90s.

Oh, and the first two Harry Potter films.

Lawrence had an answer for that, too.

Checks out. Makes perfect sense.

Man, so many people get so weird interacting with celebrities (including me). It's dope to see someone handle it so casually and actually manage to be funny about it.

People loved the idea.

Honestly? I'm just gonna say it: people are sleeping on this idea. Disney itself is sleeping on this idea.

I will take suggestions for who the cast should be. Hard mode: no basketball players.

This tweet robbed me and stole my identity.

I hope she takes on this role after portraying every ethnicity possible, as well as a tree.

Oh god...if they even cast her as the mom I will fully lose my mind.

Dave understands me.

Dave will never see this, but he understands me and I want him to know this idea is the best one of the whole bunch.

Catherine O'Hara should be in everything.

Points were made.

This is the only believable pitch I've seen on the subject.

Kevin would also totally be like a really promising game designer, right? All those pranks and puzzles have to lead there.

Lawrence sure had some interesting DMs, too.

Just little Twitter things. What, you don't get DMs about Michael Jackson being alive? No one asks you to ask your new famous friend for the real tea?

Me either. Well, there was that one time...

Macauley made a frankly iconic tweet about the remake.

Yeah...this checks out.

Every detail of this is art, from the headband all the way down to the patterned mouse.

Kevin would totally cook for himself too, right? I believe that about him. I do.
