Folks are dealing with extreme weather conditions all across the U.S. right now. The unexpected winter storm that brought on freezing temperatures has shut down power for many people in Texas and other areas.

Honestly, I haven't had to deal with a power outage for years.

I can't even remember the last one. However, I really do feel for anyone stuck in that situation right now. If you're one of those people not being able to use your bathroom, that sucks.

So when I stumbled upon this lady's simple yet effective toilet hack, I just had to share it with all of you.

I hope it helps somebody in a pinch or two. The idea is really easy, and you can pull it off super fast.

I bet you're all ears now, huh?

Okay, I'll quit stalling and get right to the point. All you have to do is line your toilet with a plastic bag so you can handle your business. Then, once done, tie it up and throw the bag out.

I understand this might not be the perfect solution, but if you don't have running water, what else can you do?

At least you can still use the toilet and not feel like you have to hold it in. Imagine if this storm lasts a few days or even a week?

Yikes! I can't even picture that.

It's really as simple as this, though. I have to admit, I never thought of this solution at all. Maybe if I were very desperate, I would have come up with it myself, too.

As it turns out, I'm not the only person that thinks this idea is pretty genius.

Plenty of folks online began commenting when they saw this Facebook post. Many of them vowed to share it with others who might require a solution like that.

There were at least a few folks who thought this post was very timely.

They have just now found themselves in a predicament like this one. Now, they have a few solutions they can use at least. This will come in handy for sure.

This mom even chimed in that she, too, had thought of this idea.

However, she had to ensure that the bag was secure in the toilet because she has kids. Her response here makes total sense, but it's also pretty hilarious.

Then, others suggested more clever solutions for this unfortunate toilet situation.

For example, if you have access to snow, you can melt it and use it to flush the toilet. Wow, isn't that another fantastic idea or what? I totally love it.

Another thing you can do is think ahead.

If you hear of any inclement weather heading your way, get prepared now. What I used to do is fill the tub with water all the way. Then once the power is out, you can use it to flush the toilet.

Since this post went live, it has pretty much gone viral.

It has garnered about 167,000 related discussions so far. And people have been sharing it back and forth so they can help others who need a solution. Aww, that's so nice.

I can't even imagine what it must be like for a family with kids to be going through something like this.

I mean, it's hard enough for a two-person household. On top of that, having kids around — I don't envy anyone dealing with it now.

Isn't it fantastic when people come up with simple solutions like that and then spread the word?

I think that's so awesome to see. It might make a huge difference for many people who don't have any other solutions on hand.

Who knew that a simple solution could be such a lifesaver on this particular occasion, huh?

I hope you don't have to ever resort to this. If you do, I sincerely hope you don't have to deal with it for too long. Has the terrible weather impacted you?
