Well, this oughta be interesting. Was there supposed to be a little more edge to Captain America's character in Infinity War?

'Infinity War' Had A Bloody Scene Involving Captain America That Was Cut
Quick out of all the superheroes, who do you think is the least edgy?

Probably Captain America, right? He's just some ultra-patriotic schoolboy that has superpowers.
He's from the '40s! He doesn't even swear! He loves his country so much it's in his name! Can't get any less edgy.
Well, unfortunately, the title implies edginess that we just can't deliver.

No, it's not about Captain America making people bleed but rather... eating his own blood.
And not in a sweet, metal way either. He did it by accident, and frankly, it's more gross than cool.
So in the original script of 'Infinity War', we were supposed to see what was going on with each Avenger pre-Thanos.

And at one point we see Cap, Black Widow, and Falcon being vigilantes.
They're going up against a bunch of criminals, and in the scene, they had just defeated them.
And then... well, I'll let writer Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely tell you what happens next.

They said:
“There was one scene, it was in Infinity War. We wrote it, we didn’t shoot it. It was part and parcel of a whole thing where we realized we were picking up the characters too early in their arc before Thanos had gotten to them. It was a scene of basically Widow and Falcon and Cap in hiding post-Civil War and they’d just been through a big fight with criminals, and Cap was eating mashed potatoes, and Falcon says “You’re bleeding into your mashed potatoes.” He looks at him like…yeah he is bleeding into his mashed potatoes. I remember Kevin Feige going “He’s bleeding into his mashed potatoes?! I don’t want to see that!”
