18 Fashion And Beauty Trends That People Can't Agree On

It's been said many times that fashion and beauty trends come and go. I think you can agree with me on that.

But the funniest thing is that one day something is totally "in" and the next day it's "out." And then the opposite happens. So how can you even keep up?

I give up, haha, especially when the trends are as divisive as the ones below.

1. Heavy Eyeliner

I don't know about you, but I never succumbed to the whole heavy eyeliner trend. I mean, I don't really like to look like I spend the whole night drinking. Am I right? That doesn't look great on anyone.

2. Transparent Garments

Leave it to Kim Kardashian to bring us another trend that didn't really jive with everyone. I don't know about you, but this whole idea doesn't appeal to me that much. I like to leave something to the imagination, ha, ha!

3. Glitter Eye Shadow

Do you remember when you were sticking that shiny glitter to your eyelids? Oh my goodness,I hope I don't have to remind you that it wasn't such a great idea. I'm so happy this trend is more demure now.

4. Modern Mullets

Here's what I think of mullets. They weren't that cool when they came out. I mean, check out some pictures of Billy Ray Cyrus back in the day, alright. And they're not cool now that his daughter is trying to bring them back.

5. High Rise Jeans

Just like low-rise jeans were tough to get used to at first, I have a beef with its cousin — the high rise. I find these pants so uncomfortable, especially when sitting down. They're riding up to my chin, lol.

6. Faux Freckles

I know that some ladies think freckles are so cute. So much so that they would go through the trouble of tattooing them on. However, my take on it is that if you have them, love them, and if you don't, embrace your skin anyway.

7. Tanning Beds

Here's something I must confess, I too partook in a few tanning bed sessions. And when I say a few, well, it was definitely more than that. However, I'm glad I got it out of my system because it's not a healthy obsession.

8. Korean Skincare Routine

When it comes to makeup, I'm a bit of a minimalist. Hence, I don't wear much makeup daily. So the whole 10-step Korean skincare beauty routine goes right over my head. Ain't nobody got time for that. Am I right?

9. Facial Cupping

Speaking of time wasters, that's what I think about this latest trend. I can get behind cupping as a healing tool for your body, but as far as the skin is concerned, I'll have to pass. Does it even work? I'm pretty skeptical.

10. Dad Trainers

Let me tell you something, I like to stay as comfortable as possible. So the idea of wearing runners isn't lost on me. But as far as fashion goes, white trainers aren't really my thing. I would go for a combination of gray and blue, though.

11. Unicorn Hair

There are many different hair trends we have seen over the years. But I have to admit I never got into the whole unicorn mane. I mean, I get the appeal but no, not for me, ha, ha!

12. Oversized Sunglasses

I, too, fell victim to the oversized sunglasses phenomenon. I was going for that Jackie O kind of look, but in the end, the glasses felt too heavy for my head. So now I gladly wear my aviators.

13. Stockings And Shorts

I like wearing stockings alongside a dress or a skirt. However, when you put them together with shorts, they look so juvenile, no? At least that's the impression that I get. So that was never really my style. How about you?

14. Ombré Hair

Even though I never had this hair color before, I have to admit that I wish I had. Unlike unicorn hair, I believe this one looks so beautiful. I wish I could have gone to a salon that could have perfected that on my mane. Is it too late now?

15. Skinny Jeans

Who here adored their skinny jeans? I'm talking to you, hee-hee. I totally get the appeal, but for people like me, who actually have thighs, they were quite tricky to wear. I much prefer joggers or leggings any day.

16. Bleached Eyebrows

One of the dumbest trends I've seen in a while is bleached eyebrows. Only one thing comes to mind, and it's to ask, "why?" There's no way this looks good on anyone, and in my opinion, it's just weird AF.

17. Crocs

Let me ask you a question: do you own any Crocs? Come on, fess up. I won't hold it against you. Truth be told, I never owned the classic Croc, but I did succumb to purchasing some more stylish versions, ha, ha!

18. Bubble Nails

How did this even become a nail trend? I thought nails like these were the result of somebody not being well trained in manicures. Honestly, I would never consider putting this train wreck on my nails. No, thank you. Next!

As I said, there are so many divisive beauty and fashion trends.

I definitely had a hard time with a few of these. And in the end, I had to do what was right for me. How about you? What trend was the bane of your existence? And were there any you were sad to see disappear?
