The world is full of wonder. You never know what you're going to find. And sometimes, you stumble upon something you have no clue about, aha.

So what do you do? Well, naturally you head over to Reddit's r/whatisthisthing community to get people to help you identify it, no?

So here are just a few interesting finds people solved for others. Check them out.

1. This Item Near The Fireplace

Somebody discovered this hanging outside their fireplace. It seems to have gears inside of it and pivots into the fireplace.

What do you know — it's a clockwork spit turner for automatically turning a roast or other meat. How neat is that?

2. This Object Found In A Kitchen

If you found this object lying around in your kitchen, would you know its purpose? Well, it's a handheld salamander. You heat the “puck” and hold it over the food you want to brown or melt like cheese for a French onion soup. Nice!

3. This Metal Whisk-Looking Item

This person stumbled upon a curious metal whisk-like looking object with Ts and hearts at the top. They had no idea what it was.

Apparently, it's a bandage/gauze applicator for fingers or thumbs! It's called a "shuttlecock bandage applicator."

4. This Old Farm Tool

This person stumbled upon this old tool on their grandfather's farm, and they asked the people on Reddit to identify it.

It's a sawset. You can use it to adjust the teeth of handsaws when sharpening them. Aha!

5. This 'Bunker'

"What are these concrete bunker things that are all along the highway in Santa Margarita, California?"

It's an access point for California State Water Project Coastal Branch underground pipeline. It flows east over to San Luis Obispo, then south to Lake Cachuma.

6. This Heater Attachment

Somebody found this attached to the heater in their apartment, and it's hissing. Ha, ha, that doesn't sound right.

It's only an automatic bleeding valve to let trapped air out of your system. That's good to know, right?

7. This Kitchen Drawer

If you found this strange-looking kitchen drawer with a sliding metal lid containing perforations, would you know what to use it for, huh? I'm going to enlighten you. You can store bread in it. Oh, yeah!

8. This Ceramic Holder

I don't know about you, but I wouldn't think of something ceramic like this and modern technology. But as it turns out, this is an actual cell phone holder, haha. Who would have guessed it? Am I right?

9. This Box With Tambourines Inside

Somebody stumbled upon this wooden box containing tambourine-shaped discs, metal balls, and foam on either end of the box. What is it?

The clever people at Reddit identified it as Falling Rain Chimes.

10. This Plastic Rack

What is this white metal thing with different size hooks on both sides and a curved middle? It's too shallow to store anything enough to be a proper drying rack.

It's actually a soda can holder for a fridge.

11. These Pliers

"I'm going through a bunch of tools and found this clamp-type thing with a little pair of (wire?) cutters on the side."

These are side-cutting pliers, also commonly referred to as Sargent fishing pliers, because the cutter was real handy for cutting fishhooks.

12. This Odd Device

"Small white thing with charging port found under the car seat, no one knows where it came from."

According to Google Lens, it's a mosquito repellent device. Oh my goodness, ha, ha! I would never have guessed that. How about you?

13. This Plastic Object

Somebody found this strange plastic object in their house and was wondering what it was. I'm not going to tell you what I thought of first when I saw it, ha, ha! As it turns out, it's just a piece from this toy.

14. This Weird Looking Item

Okay, I have to get my mind out of the gutter because every object I see today reminds me of something NSFW, lol. Apparently, this is a wine stopper made by Rabbit. OMG!

15. This Clear Plastic Tube

It's filled with unidentifiable clear liquid. And it seems to have a syringe tip that’s carefully covered with a stopper and a cap.

It's a precision needle oiler, and it's typically used in sewing machines.

16. This Nook Found In A House

Somebody found this interesting thing in their new house. They had no idea what it was for, ha, ha!

Ladies and gentlemen, it's a telephone nook. The bottom part is to store the telephone book, or if that's a foot that pops out, it may be a stool.

17. This Tupperware Utensil

"I received an old hard plastic Tupperware utensil shaped like a seahorse. No idea what it is or what it is to be used for."

This vintage collectible Tupperware "SLI-SAW-ALL" gadget can be used to slice tomatoes, veggies, soft fruits, even some types of cheese. Nice!

18. These Items Found With A New Shirt

If you ever bought a new collared shirt, you might have found these. As it turns out, these are collar stiffeners. You can insert them in your collar to keep it stiff. How cool is that?

I think it's so cool to discover something you had no idea about and then be enlightened like this.
