Jennifer Grey Opens Up About Unpleasant Working Experience With Patrick Swayze

It's no small wonder that it was at this time when the world was first introduced to some of the most iconic romantic dramatic dance films of all time.

Dirty Dancing tells the story of Frances 'Baby' Houseman and Johnny Castle. After meeting at a secret "Dirty Dancing" event, a romance begins to blossom while they learn to love and trust one another on the dance floor.

What was even more surprising for fans was that unlike their characters 'Baby' and Johnny — actress Jennifer Grey and budding movie star Patrick Swayze didn't like each other.

"And the fact that we needed to be a natural match created a tension," Jennifer explained.

Normally, when two people aren't a good fit for one another, they simply move on. But in the case of Patrick and Jennifer, they were forced to be together.

At the time, Patrick Swayze was considered to be a bonified sex symbol. Every woman on the planet wanted to be near him and Jennifer couldn't get far enough away.

Despite what the public's perception of the Dirty Dancing co-stars undeniably was, both Jennifer and Patrick were in committed relationships at the time.

Jennifer is of course making reference to her Ferris Bueller's Day Off co-star, Matthew Broderick, whom she dated and was also briefly engaged to before parting ways in 1988.

"I feel like if I could say anything to him now I would say, 'I'm so sorry that I couldn't just appreciate and luxuriate in who you were, instead of me wishing you were more like what I wanted you to be.'"

The author of the upcoming book "Out of the Corner: A Memoir" said that they've been working on a script for years now and that she hopes to introduce/reintroduce the film to a whole new generation of moviegoers.

"A successful movie and formula, using dance as a metaphor for embodying your energy and getting out of your head, and your limiting belief systems." Simply put — it was the time of her life.
