A surprise is the kind of thing that you either very much want, or very much don't want. It's tough to anticipate everything that life might throw at you, after all.

So let's say something unexpected has come up and surprised you — what do you do? Well, you can share the story with your friends if you want, but the best option is probably to share the photographic evidence across social media.

"I don't know what I hit or ran over, if anything, but two of my tires just exploded. By the time I pulled over one was long gone."

There are many, many reasons that might contribute to your tires exploding and disappearing, but I'm not sure if knowledge is power in this example.

"My kid slapped my glasses directly into my eyeball."

Anyone who wears glasses and has kids knows what it's like to have those glasses grabbed off your face and slammed back into your face, but I think this eyeball imprint is a new one.

"Mail truck carrying our wedding invites caught on fire."

reddit | iforgotmeusername

How often do mail trucks catch fire? Often enough that there's a website dedicated to the phenomenon. If this couple was worried about the fire being a bad omen, they can rest easy knowing that these fires happen all the time for some reason.

"Accidentally dropped my mom's bead case. Will be busy for the next 12 hours."

reddit | ProUnilino

Beading seems like a nice, low-cost, low-stakes hobby. But that's coming from the perspective of someone who's never lived with a beader. If you live with a beader, you just have to accept that there are thousands of beads in every nook of your living space.

"I got hit by a turkey at 65 mph."

reddit | k_1_n_g_c_0_1_e

I feel bad for the turkey here. Not only is is (presumably) dead after this collision, but OP is kind of blaming the turkey for the collision, as if it was the one going 65 miles an hour.

"How do I remove it?"

reddit | leh_Oreo

How do you fix it? Well, it's pretty easy: turn off power to the outlet, then use something to pull it out. As for why this person's luck is so bad, we really have no easy fixes.

"I dropped my deep fat fryer on my wooden floor.. there is no god."

There are some messes that just feel un-cleanable, and I'd say that fryer fat on a nice wood floor would count as one of those messes.

"Sewed up a shirt in my living room. Felt a slight pain when I got up. Ignored it but could barely walk 3 days later. That's what the X-ray revealed..."

I guess this works on the same principle as getting a shot in the arm: the needle is so small that you barely register it.

"My bedroom ceiling collapsed."

reddit | deus_voltaire

Not only is this person's bedroom (and everything it contains) ruined, but there's probably a lot more to unpack here. Maybe those building materials contain asbestos, or mold. In any event, they contain dust, so a mask will be necessary.

"This watermelon that I grew."

reddit | NeedlesMakeMeFaint

Have you ever grown something, felt super proud, then cut it open to reveal that there's almost nothing edible inside? I've been there. My repeated experiences in this area are the reason I don't bother gardening anymore.

"Came home from work to find a few tons of gravel dumped in my driveway. No idea where it came from."

On one hand, this guy got a bunch of free gravel. On the other hand, it's kind of useless unless he actually wanted it for something.

"Dog was barking funny - didn't see the copperhead until it was too late."

Dogs sometimes freak out for no reason, which can cause us as owners to ignore them when they're freaking out for a good reason. Lesson learned, I hope.

"My car this morning.."

Oof, it just hurts to look at this pic. The thieves who made off with the wheels clearly took their time in stripping this car down, and as a result, someone's going to be late to work.

"Getting ab implants when you’re skinny, and then gaining weight, so your fake abs sit on top a layer of fat."

If you thought breast implants were the only kind of implant, think again. There are also ab implants and butt implants. Yes, they can look a bit odd.

"I’m not saying this clock the wife got from Kmart is [trash], but the alarm didn’t go off this morning and the time is now 9:77."

If you woke up in a bleary-eyed haze and saw that the time was 9:77, you'd probably start wondering what's even real anymore.

"Tigers keep showing up on the streets in Mexico. The owner of a taco place was cleaning when this tiger went inside looking for a place to hide, apparently the taco man has been thru some [stuff] and grabbed the tiger to calm it down."

Tigers can straight-up murder a person in a matter of seconds, but this guy is handling the tiger like a boss.

"This pub has brought my salad in a fish bowl, wtf."

I get that fancy eateries like to find unconventional ways to serve food, but a fish bowl? This form factor only really works for drinks, not for any kind of salad.

"The automatic car wash broke my car."

reddit | stuartmx

When you go through one of these car washes, you take it for granted that the components will move out of the way to let your car pass through. This is what happens when things don't work out.

"Check if you can see, shot this from Kanha."

Tiger and leopard, both in trees, in a showdown
twitter | @GetMohanThomas

It's pretty cool to see two big cats who are presumably engaged in a vicious showdown. It probably ended with both of them bounding off into the jungle, but this is still a cool shot.

"Tourist from flatland tries to park in Norway to enjoy the view."

This pic shows, in a nutshell, why you should be very cautious when you pull over on one of these roads, no matter how good the view might be.
