Sally Field, an Oscar-winning actress, has had a nearly 60-year career, beginning with her TV role as the bright youngster, Gidget, and continuing with her most recent comedy, "80 for Brady."

The 76-year-old was honored by the Screen Actors Guild with a lifetime achievement award on Sunday. However, as the 30th anniversary of the 1993 comedy "Mrs. Doubtfire" approaches later this year, Sally Field recalled working with Robin Williams on it.

Sally Describes Him As Energetic

"He had endless energy. And he’d want to do take after take after take because every take he would want to do something different," Sally explained.

Baring It All In Her Memoir

However, Sally also discussed her emotional memoir In Pieces, which details abuse by her stepfather Jock Mahoney when she was a child, in the interview that has yet to air.

Sally was open and honest when Lisa questioned how difficult it was to write about that experience.

Recalling Her Childhood

"Hugely emotional, because reliving what my childhood was with my stepfather is hugely complicated and emotional. Because he was so loveable at the same time that he was threatening,: she told Lisa.

In the candid memoir, Sally, whose big break came in 1965 as the lead in the American sitcom Gidget, also discussed much of her time spent in Hollywood.

What Was Her Relationship With Burt Reynolds?

Her tense relationship with the late A-list actor, Burt Reynolds, was discussed in detail, and she accused him of being manipulative and turning her into "a shadowy version of herself."

"I started so young and was sucked up in television and then it took a long time to get out of television," she said. "Films didn’t want anything to do with television. They weren’t making any movies with anybody other than models."

On Winning Her First Oscar

Field won her first Academy Award for her portrayal of the title role in the 1980 film "Norma Rae," about a factory worker who unionizes her employer's cotton mill.

After winning her second Oscar five years later for the historical drama "Places in the Heart," she said, "You like me," in one of the most famous (or misquoted) acceptance speeches in the show's history.

Other Projects

Field, now a seasoned two-time Oscar winner, continued to play a variety of characters in movies throughout the remainder of the 1980s and 1990s, including "Steel Magnolias," in which she portrayed a mother who loses her grown daughter (Julia Roberts) to complications from diabetes after giving birth.

Sally Featured In Mrs. Doubtfire Were She Met Her Friend

In 1993's "Mrs. Doubtfire," Field returned to her comedic roots by portraying the straight woman to Robin Williams' iconic cross-dressing character, a role she hasn't quite gotten over as she remembers him at the awards.
