Lucille Ball's Daughter Says 'Stop Arguing', Nicole Kidman Is Playing Lucy In New Movie

She's got some 'splainin' to do!

There has been a ton of controversy over the rumored casting of Nicole Kidman and Javier Bardem as Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz in an upcoming movie (like, a TON of controversy). And now, Lucie Arnaz, the daughter of Lucille and Desi, is speaking out in a new Facebook video in defense of the casting choice.

*I Love Lucy* is one of the best television shows of all time.

Not only was it one of the pioneers of the great American sitcom, it starred so many talented and hilarious cast members that it's hard to find a single episode that isn't totally fantastic.

A huge part of that was because of Lucy herself.

Lucille Ball was an icon.

Not only was she gorgeous and a talented actress, she was the master of physical comedy and expressiveness — nothing stands out more in my memory of watching I Love Lucy than Lucy's hilarious facial expressions and top-notch physical gags.

That's why when it was announced that a movie was going to be made about Lucille and her then-husband, Desi Arnaz, during the filming of the show, the pressure was on.

Since Lucy is such an iconic character and Lucille herself was such a beloved star, fans had a LOT of opinions about who should be bringing Lucille to life again on the big screen.

One name in particular came up a lot.

Fans wanted to see Debra Messing take on the part.

The Will & Grace star already proved her acting chops when she recreated clips from I Love Lucy on the show, and on top of that, the two stars do look incredibly alike, down to the red hair and everything!

However, the part went to Nicole Kidman.

Fans were definitely not stunned by this casting decision, and many shared how they felt on social media.

However, Lucille Ball's daughter, Lucie, made a Facebook video decrying all this negativity surrounding Nicole's casting in the film.

Lucie said in the video that she wanted to "have a little chat" with the people "who have been so enthusiastically commenting" about the casting.

"There seems to be a lot of discussion about 'Nicole Kidman, it should be Debra Messing, it should be Carole Cook,' I don't know," Lucie said. "Here's the deal, what you should understand: We are not doing a remake of 'I Love Lucy.'"

"No one has to impersonate Lucy Ricardo nor do the Vitameatavegamin routine," Lucie said.

"It's the story of Lucille Ball, my actual mother, not Lucy Ricardo, and her husband Desi Arnaz, my dad, not Ricky Ricardo," Lucie emphasized, although she added that despite focusing on their love story, "there will be humor in the film."

"I don't think you will be disappointed," Lucie added.

"I hope I can set the record straight here and say stop arguing about 'Who should play it? She doesn't look like her? The nose isn't the same, she isn't as funny,'" Lucie went on to say.

"Just trust us. It's gonna be a nice film. And P.S.: The voting is over."

You heard her!

While some fans still don't think that Nicole is right for the part, others have been getting cautiously optimistic that the film might do justice for Lucille's legacy.

Nicole is a huge fan of Lucille herself.

Nicole recently spoke out about the controversial casting, saying she was going to try her best with the part.

Really, that's all anyone can ask of her to do!

What do you think?

Do you agree with Lucie and think we should wait to see how the movie turns out before complaining, or do you think the role should have gone to someone else anyway? Let us know how you feel in the comments below!
